Kaylee and Brooklynn Ewell and now Raegan have a rare condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). This disorder causes excruciating pain in whatever area of the body affected. CRPS is the highest form of chronic pain in medical science, and is ranked higher than childbirth on the pain scale. CRPS can also spread and affect additional parts of the body. Kaylee was diagnosed in 2017 and is now in full body CRPS. Brooklynn was diagnosed in Jan 2022 and her pain is spreading quickly and becoming more debilitating. For Reagan, it is very early in diagnosis as she fell on her right hip September 16th. Within 3 days her pain increased drastically and spread through her back and right leg and foot. The 10th day after her accident her right shoulder and arm started flaring.
Rae would be the first patient she treated this early in the diagnosis. We're hoping that catching it this early will stop it from spiraling out of control. They are going to take her as a patient at Spero immediately. It's amazing how we are here, the only place that can help CRPS patients, when Raegan fell and now has the same diagnosis as her two sisters.
Their lives are greatly affected by this disorder and the quality of life they have has greatly diminished. This has had a huge impact on our entire family physically, mentally, and emotionally.
We have been to countless doctor's appointments and therapies, and tried several treatments and medications. God has blessed us and some things have helped them, though none have given them the life they once had. God has lead us to a clinic that specializes in CRPS.
