Dear Friends and Supporters,
For seven years I've battled the most painful disease known to modern medicine, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), an excruciating condition often referred to as the "suicide disease" due to its relentless pain. CRPS brings about excruciating pain, skin changes, swelling, hypersensitivity, and muscle weakness. My medical journey is further complicated by additionally diagnoses: Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Gastroparesis (GP), Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), Chronic Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), and Lyme Disease. These conditions culminate in a wide range of chronic symptoms that hugely impact my daily life.
This is not the life I ever envisioned myself having to live. This condition has stolen moments, dreams, and opportunities from me, and each day is a battle against pain, limitations, and uncertainty. I long for a life where I can pursue my passions, be fully present with loved ones, and experience the simple joys that many take for granted, and I will keep fighting for that kind of life as long as it takes.
Despite my relentless pursuit of relief through all treatments offered, including nerve blocks, medications, and therapies - nothing helped. In a huge step of faith, in May 2022, I embarked on a promising treatment program at the Spero Clinic in Arkansas, focusing on nervous system healing, and while in treatment, I experienced significant improvements! Sadly, financial constraints forced me to leave the program prematurely.
Upon returning home in May of 2023, I have been diligently using the tools I've gained and investing countless hours in treatments I am able to do from home. However, my pain levels and symptoms remain higher than they were in Arkansas, underlining the urgent need for further treatment until I achieve remission.
The financial burden of my ongoing treatment remains daunting, as most aspects are not covered by insurance. I'm working tirelessly and dedicating all my income to treatment, while also searching for support and fundraising opportunities. Financial obstacles can impede recovery for those with chronic illnesses like CRPS, and your contribution can make a profound difference in my journey toward healing. If you can contribute to my treatment, it would mean the world to me. Even the smallest donation brings hope and determination. For those unable to contribute financially, your understanding, empathy, encouragement, and prayers are equally cherished. The knowledge that I'm not alone in this battle offers immense comfort and strength.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Brielle
